Job Posting – Marketing & Outreach Specialist (52 Week Contract)
Nipissing Serenity Hospice (NSH) is currently accepting applications for the position of Marketing & Outreach Specialist. This position is funded through the Northern Ontario Heritage Corporation (NOHFC). The position is a limited-term internship that is 52 weeks long.
Nipissing Serenity Hospice is a 10-bed bilingual, residential hospice located in North Bay, Ontario serving the residents of the Nipissing and East Parry Sound Districts. The Hospice provides around the clock palliative care by an expert multi-disciplinary team in a peaceful setting for people of all ages at the end of life. Support is also extended to caregivers and families. At Nipissing Serenity Hospice we strive to ensure compassion, comfort and dignity at end of life.
ELIGIBILITY
This NOHFC program requires that candidates:
- Are new entrants into the work force, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field;
- Have not previously participated in a NOHFC-funded internship;
- Be at least 18 years of age; and
- Reside, and be legally entitled to work, in Canada
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Fund Development Coordinator (FDC), the Marketing & Outreach Specialist assists in the development of marketing initiatives to increase revenue for all fundraising streams and raise community profile.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- A degree or diploma in marketing, communications, business or public relations or related field;
- A good understanding of identifying target audience, developing customer personas, email marketing, content strategy, Facebook ads, Instagram ads, Google Ad Words, content marketing and social media marketing;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher;
- Experience in digital content creation (ex. Videos, infographics, etc.);
- Familiarity with PC and iOS platforms;
- Print, digital and website design and layout
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, planning and time-management skills, including ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Commitment to confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information of donors;
- Impeccable written and oral communication skills;
- The ability to be proactive and take the initiative;
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate mission and initiatives of NSH to donors and other external stakeholders, and willingness to ask supporters for donations;
- Work independently or as a team;
- Have knowledge of social media and mobile devices and are not afraid of technology;
- A creative spirit;
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Marketing
- Assists in the development of marketing initiatives to attract new donors
- Assess and improve on-line presence for NSH
- Coordinate social media, including Facebook, Instagram, etc.
- Promotion Hike for Hospice, 3rd party events and other NSH events
- Promotion of NSH grief, bereavement, and wellness programs
- Evaluate current marketing efforts
- Assist in the development of a marketing plan
- Relationship building with key linkages
- Assists in the development of the Annual Report
- Assists in sponsorship acquisition.
Administrative
- Develop fundraising and marketing proposals
- Preparation and delivery of presentations
- Assist in grant/proposal writing and research
- Assist with maintenance of CRM (Sumac and Constant Contact)
- Integrated team member
- Management of confidential records

Salary: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: 7.5hrs x 5 days per week (37.5hrs/week)
