Updated March 30, 2020
Effective March 30, 2020 Nipissing Serenity Hospice is further restricting the visiting policy to immediate family members of palliative residents only. Visitors will be restricted to 2 visitors only per resident daily. All visitors will continue to be actively screened by staff prior to entry to the building and are encouraged to call ahead prior to visiting to ensure our visiting restrictions have not changed.
Visitors will only be admitted during the hours of 10-7pm unless other arrangements made with the primary care team. If a resident is nearing end of life, one family member is welcome to remain at the bedside, or our guest suite if available. This family member will not be allowed to exit the building after 10 pm.
Visitors are restricted from common areas(dining room/living room/business centre) at this time, unless otherwise arranged with care team. Visits will be restricted to the resident’s room only. Visitors are requested to ask staff for assistance with refreshments to minimize surface contact of these common areas.
Those who exhibit symptoms, which include fever, sore throat, cough or general unwellness will be asked to reschedule to a later date if possible or be instructed to utilize the proper protective equipment and routine precautions. The situation is fluid and will continue to change.
If you have traveled outside of Canada within the past 14 days and/or are experiencing symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat), please call your North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (1-800-563-2808) or Telehealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000).
The best way to prevent infection from any virus, including COVID-19 is to practice hand washing, cover your mouth and/or cough and sneeze into your elbow, and stay home if you are sick.
