Nipissing Serenity Hospice Announces New Executive Director
Nipissing Serenity Hospice is pleased to announce Gil Pharand has officially been named Executive Director of the not-for-profit, residential hospice.
This hiring comes as Nipissing Serenity Hospice implements strategic visions for its first operating year and builds on the successes of the 2020 Grand Opening. Pharand is devoted to providing excellence in hospice palliative care and ensuring the sustainability of Nipissing Serenity Hospice.
“The Board of Directors for Nipissing Serenity Hospice is pleased to announce our new Executive Director Gil Pharand. Gil is a resident of North Bay and brings vast experience having worked with the Canadian Cancer Society here in the north. He is uniquely qualified for the position with experience in senior management, strategic planning, revenue generation, budgeting, volunteer and donor stewardship, media relations and government advocacy,” states Vivian Papaiz, Board Chair of Nipissing Serenity Hospice. “We believe that he will be a strong addition for Nipissing Serenity Hospice and look forward to his leadership as we continue to serve our residents, families and communities in our service areas”.
Pharand is a life-long citizen of Northern Ontario. He started his career in post-secondary advancement at Laurentian University, which led him to Nipissing University. He played an integral role working with donors and was heavily involved in several capital campaigns, most notably, the Harris Learning Library campaign.
Pharand has been a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2009 and has lent his expertise as a speaker to many diverse groups. Individuals granted this designation have met a series of standards set by CFRE International, which include tenure in the profession, education, and demonstrated fundraising achievement for not-for-profit organizations and have agreed to uphold Accountability Standards and the Donor Bill of Rights.
Pharand made a move to the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) where he was senior manager of the North Bay and Timmins community offices. In this role, he oversaw all aspects of community operations, including fundraising and donor relations, strategic planning, media relations and volunteer engagement. During his time with CCS he also was actively involved in many Provincial committees.

La Maison Sérénité du Nipissing annonce un nouveau directeur exécutif
La Maison Sérénité du Nipissing est heureux d’annoncer que Gil Pharand a été officiellement nommé au poste de Directeur exécutif de l’hospice résidentiel sans but lucratif.
Cette ébauche arrive en même temps que la Maison Sérénité du Nipissing met en œuvre des visions stratégiques pour sa première année d’exploitation et s’appuie sur les succès de la Grande ouverture. Pharand se consacre à fournir l’excellence dans les soins palliatifs et à assurer la durabilité de la Maison Sérénité du Nipissing.

Gil est un résident de North Bay et possède une vaste expérience, ayant travaillé avec la Société canadienne du cancer ici, dans le Nord. Pharand est originaire du nord de l’Ontario. Il a commencé sa carrière dans l’avancement postsecondaire à l’université Laurentienne, ce qui l’a mené à l’université Nipissing. Il a joué un rôle essentiel en travaillant avec les donateurs et a été fortement impliqué dans plusieurs campagnes de financement, notamment la campagne Harris Learning Library.
Pharand est un exécutif de collecte de fonds certifié (CFRE) depuis 2009 et a prêté son expertise en tant que conférencier à de nombreux groupes divers. Les personnes qui ont obtenu cette désignation ont satisfait à une série de normes établies par CFRE International, qui incluent la permanence dans la profession, l’éducation et la réussite des collectes de fonds pour les organisations à but non lucratif et ont accepté de respecter les normes de responsabilité et la Charte des droits des donateurs.
Pharand a ensuite poursuivi sa carrière à la Société canadienne du cancer (SCC), où il était directeur principal des bureaux communautaires de North Bay et de Timmins. Dans ce rôle, il a supervisé tous les aspects des opérations communautaires, y compris la collecte de fonds et les relations avec les donateurs, la planification stratégique, les relations avec les médias et l’engagement des bénévoles. Au cours de son mandat avec la SCC, il a également participé activement à de nombreux comités provinciaux.
