Nipissing Serenity Hospice is trying something new with an online Mother’s Day fundraiser which hopes to generate some much-needed donations. The global health pandemic had reaped havoc on our local not for profits and left many in a dire situation having to cancel annual fundraisers.

The well being of Nipissing Serenity Hospice weighs heavily on the annual Hike for Hospice, which is the biggest fundraiser of the year. “At the moment we have postponed the event, and with so many uncertainties in the coming weeks and months, we are not sure when or if we will be able to reschedule it this summer,” says Jane Jackson, interim Executive Director. “We have also had to restrict our volunteer program, to ensure the safety of our residents and community. Volunteers play a large role at the hospice and this has had a tremendous impact on our operations.”

Along with countless volunteers reaching out to offer their time, local businesses Twigg’s Coffee Roasters and Laporte’s Nursery & Greenhouses have stepped up to support our fundraiser. The modest goal is to sell 500 Mother’s Day “Blooms & Aromas” Gift Packages. The Gift Packages for mom are filled with goodies from Laporte’s and Twiggs. Volunteers from Nipissing Serenity Hospice will be using e-commerce tools to keep everyone safe and a drive thru style pick up will be set up at the hospice.

Mother’s Day “Blooms and Aromas” Gift packages can be purchased up until May 6, 2020 on our website.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to support our community residents.

The programs and services offered at NSH are free of charge to those who reside in the Districts of Nipissing and East Parry Sound and their loved ones. To continue our operations, we rely on generous donations to meet 60% of our operating budget each year.
